Weaponising Antisemitism to Shield War Crimes

They want to Criminalise Conscience

This is not a mistake. It’s not a slip-up. And it’s not a misunderstanding. What the UK Culture Secretary just said in the House of Commons was part of a system—one designed to protect power, not people.

Moments ago, while standing at the dispatch box, our Culture Secretary implied chanting “Death to the IDF” is antisemitic.

“And what we’ve seen in recent months is an increase in antisemitism and it’s often disguised in language around criticism of Israel or the IDF, which is why it’s so important that we call it out when we see it.”

Think that’s bad? Oh, she went much further than just that…

Let’s be very clear here. That is not a warning against hate speech. That is a declaration that criticism of a military force—a state military force—is often inherently antisemitic.

In other words: if you oppose the IDF bombing hospitals, if you condemn the occupation of Gaza, or if you simply shout “Death to the IDF” the same way one might say “Death to ISIS” or “Death to the Wehrmacht”—then you’re not making a political statement. You’re harbouring hatred for Jews. That’s the narrative now.

This is dangerous. Not just stupid—dangerous.

Because the IDF is not a religious institution. It is not the embodiment of Judaism. It is the armed wing of a government currently facing well-documented accusations of genocide and crimes against humanity.

And here’s the kicker: the IDF isn’t even exclusively Jewish. It includes Arab Muslims, Christians, Druze, Circassians, and Bedouins. In fact, Israeli officials often brag about their “diverse army” when it suits their PR strategy. But when you call it out for bombing civilians? Suddenly that same army becomes off-limits—because now it’s “Jewish,” and you’re a bigot.

You can’t have it both ways. Either the IDF is a national army—fair game for criticism like any other—or you’re deliberately using Jewish identity as a human shield for state violence.

Zionism is using Judaism as a shield—

And let’s be absolutely clear:

What they’re doing is antisemitic.

By using Judaism as a shield for the IDF’s crimes, they’re not protecting Jewish people—they’re endangering them. They’re tying an entire religion, culture, and people to the actions of a violent military force committing atrocities in Gaza.

That’s not just dishonest. It’s dangerous.

Because when the world sees those crimes and is told, “This is Judaism,” it breeds resentment—not toward Zionists, but toward Jews. That is what fuels antisemitism. Not criticism of war crimes. Not protest. Not “Death to the IDF.”

Zionism is using Judaism as a human shield. And in doing so, it is making Jews less safe all over the world.

“What they’re doing is antisemitic. They are making Jews less safe. Not me.”

This is about narrative control

By branding legitimate outrage as hate speech, they do three things:

  1. They pathologise dissent – you’re not angry at war crimes, you’re just antisemitic.
  2.
  3. They deify the IDF – criticism becomes sacrilege. The military becomes untouchable.
  4.
  5. They justify censorship – protest becomes hate crime. Platforms ban you. Police knock.

This isn’t paranoia. It’s already happening. I was banned from Twitter for 12 hours for saying “Death to the IDF”—a clear political statement aimed at a military institution. Not a race. Not a religion. A military.

And while that’s happening, far-right accounts that froth at the mouth about refugees and “cultural replacement” carry on tweeting uninterrupted. Why? Because their hate aligns with power. Mine doesn’t.

Say it louder:

“Death to the IDF” is not antisemitism.

It is a cry of resistance against an army committing war crimes with impunity. To conflate that with hatred of Jews is not just wrong—it’s cynical. It’s manipulative. And it puts every Jewish person in more danger by tying their identity to a violent state apparatus they may not even support.

If having a conscience is criminal, lock me up.

I will not back down. And I will not be silenced. Not by this Culture Secretary. Not by this government. And not by the cowards who weaponise identity to shield oppression from accountability.

And if you’ve read this far and felt that truth in your bones—then share it.
