When the NHS Becomes a Weapon

Why Palantir Is a Threat to Us All

The NHS is being hijacked. Not by doctors or unions or the usual bureaucrats—but by a surveillance giant with deep ties to war, repression, and authoritarian regimes.

That giant is Palantir. And if they’re allowed full control of our health data, the consequences won’t just be technical. They’ll be political. They’ll be permanent. And they’ll be dangerous.

A Company Built for War, Not Care

Palantir was founded with CIA seed money via In-Q-Tel. It built its empire by mining data for the US military, ICE deportation squads, and predictive policing in poor Black neighbourhoods. Now it wants to do the same with you—under the branding of healthcare.

Let’s be clear: Palantir is not a healthcare company. It’s a surveillance company. And the idea of them managing a “Federated Data Platform” that links every aspect of our NHS—appointments, prescriptions, diagnoses, sexual health, mental health—is nothing short of dystopian.

They’ve already landed the £330 million contract.

The Israel Connection You’re Not Supposed to Talk About

Palantir doesn’t just work with the US military. It’s deeply embedded with the Israeli state. That includes partnerships with Unit 8200—Israel’s cyber-surveillance unit—and involvement in software that’s been used to track and target Palestinians in Gaza.

That’s not speculation. That’s public record.

Palantir’s tech is built to predict behaviour, monitor networks, and flag targets. When that same tech is plugged into a national health system—one with a long track record of racial bias and data misuse—the danger writes itself.

We already know British police have accessed NHS data without consent, especially in immigration cases. What happens when the surveillance state is managed by a company with close ties to a foreign military accused of war crimes?

The BMA Just Said No

This week, the British Medical Association (BMA) passed a motion opposing Palantir’s involvement in the NHS.

This is the doctors’ union. Over 190,000 strong. And they’re refusing to play along.

They also severed ties with the Israeli Medical Association over the war in Gaza and the destruction of hospitals. This wasn’t just a vote about software. It was a line in the sand.

The UN Lawyer Who Broke the Silence

Francesca Albanese, the UN Special Rapporteur for the Occupied Palestinian Territories, just published a scathing 27‑page report titled “From Economy of Occupation to Economy of Genocide.” Backed by over 200 submissions, it accuses more than 60 companies of fueling Israel’s genocidal campaign in Gaza. Profits at the Expense of Palestinian Lives

The report names firms across key sectors:

  • Arms manufacturers: Lockheed Martin, Leonardo, BAE Systems
  •
  • Heavy machinery: Caterpillar, HD Hyundai
  •
  • Tech giants: Alphabet, Amazon, Microsoft, IBM
  •
  • AI/data firms: Palantir
  •
  • Financial backers: Allianz, Barclays, BlackRock, BNP Paribas

A State That Weaponises Everything

Israel has a long, documented history of turning technology into a weapon. Its intelligence units have exported tools for surveillance, disinformation, profiling, and cyberattacks.

Journalism Under Threat

You don’t need to kill a journalist to silence them. Just the possibility of blackmail, reputational ruin, or exposure of sensitive medical information is enough to chill dissent.

This is what Palantir represents when embedded in our NHS: not just surveillance—but silence. It isn’t about whether you are worried. It’s about what happens when everyone else is too scared to speak.

This Isn’t About Efficiency. It’s About Control.

Palantir’s predictive modelling can just as easily be used to flag “uncooperative” patients or activists.

  • Your GP knows you’ve had depression.
  •
  • You’re active in protest groups.
  •
  • You’ve missed a few appointments under stress.

What happens when that gets you flagged? Or when the “wrong” state actor quietly requests your profile?

We Must Say No. Now.

Once the data is centralised, it can’t be uncentralised. Once Palantir is in, it’s near-impossible to get them out. They’re not building systems for us. They’re building systems to contain us.

The BMA has shown courage. It’s time for the rest of us to follow.

Palantir out of our NHS. Out of our data. Out of our lives.
